Tim McGraw has been working really hard these past seven years to remain sober and he has had a great reason to.
McGraw admits that it was his wife of 17 years, Faith Hill, who truly got him to kick all of his nasty habits and for good. Us Weekly reports that the 47 year old country singer told Men’s Health Magazine that, "When your wife tells you it's gone too far, that's a big wake-up call.”
McGraw continues on to describe how he was about to lose everything and by everything, he meant all that he could not put a price tag on as his children grew up and figured everything out. “I drank too much. I partied too much. And did other things too much. Chemically. No needles or that kind of stuff, but…use your imagination."
Now seven years clean, the singer still looks to Keith Whitley, a country singer who died of alcohol poisoning back in 1989 to remind him of all there is to lose.
But just remaining sober is not his only prerogative as McGraw remains in great shape for his age. ABC News notes that McGraw has committed to his personal fitness. "I'll be the first to admit I take it to extremes," he said. "I'm not one of those people who can sorta half-a** something,” says the country star.
Tim McGraw remains to be an inspiration for many and has his new album due to be released in September.
