With the year about halfway done, it’s time to look back on the films that have been released so far and determine which are among the best so far this year.
After all, great movies are released at any time in the year, and while there are certainly some great ones to come out in the months to come, this will—at the very least—give some deserving movies their due. Especially if they end up falling farther and farther down the list as the bigger, more awards-heavy movies make their ways into the cinema.
With that in mind, this least is only able to count those of which I—personally—have gotten the chance to see. Needless to say, there are more than a few here that will not make the cut simply because I have not gotten the opportunity to enjoy them myself.
Those films include : The Double, The Immigrant, Chef, The Raid 2, Grand Piano, Only Lovers Left Alive, Jodorowsky’s Dune, Night Moves, Locke, The Rover, Blue Ruin, Ida, Obvious Child, Oculus and Snowpiercer, just to name a few.
Additionally, here are a couple honorable mentions: The Missing Picture, Muppets Most Wanted, Captain America: The Winter Solider, Particle Fever, Godzilla, The Fault in Our Stars and Gloria.
Now, let’s count down the top 10 movies of 2014 (so far)….
