It has been 25 years since Field of Dreams won over our hearts with its family-centered baseball story. Cast members and more than 6,000 fans gathered to commemorate the occasion in a celebratory ceremony, as previously reported by TheCelebrityCafe.com.
But the farmer who built a baseball diamond in his fields because voices told him to wasn't the only one captivating everyone's hearts 25 years ago. There were also kids being accidentally shrunk to miniature size after their dad's machine finally worked. There were time-traveling cars with nutty scientists and lovable teenager heroes. There was a deep-voiced, cape-wearing defender of justice and his insane opponent.
Back in 1989, an evil masked man was back for his revenge and two sidekicks were on the trail of yet more criminals. Talking babies were funny and Peter Gabriel's music was played the way it was meant to be played, loudly and to someone as a love gesture.
Take a look at this list of movies that have turned or will be turning 25 this year.

10. Lethal Weapon
It was 1989 when Riggs and Murtaugh were after South African diplomats. Back then, Murtaugh wasn't yet too old for any of it, even though he claimed to be.

9. Look Who's Talking
Bruce Willis' voice coming out of a baby makes for good laughs. Kirstie Alley and John Travolta's chemistry makes for a good romance. It's a win-win for this romantic comedy.

8. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers
Michael Myers was back terrorizing now-mute Jamie in the fifth installment of the Halloween series. It doesn't matter how many movies Michael Myers appeared in, he always looked terrifying behind that mask and those empty eyes. We feel for you, Jamie.

7. Heathers
The Plastics in Mean Girls might be the reigning queen bees now, but in 1989, it was the Heathers who told us we couldn't sit with them. Although Regina George and company never did anything quite as terrible as killing, both movies show how adolescence can bring out the worst in some people.

6. The Little Mermaid
Twenty-five years ago, instead of “Let it Go,” it was “Part of Your World” that kids knew every word to. The Little Mermaid was such a huge success that it restored Disney's reputation as the top animated film filmmaker. In fact, The Little Mermaid was so successful that it paved the way for other movies such as Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin to make it to theaters. Isn't it neat?

5. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
This is a live-action comedy film for the whole family to enjoy. The film was a commercial success so you know there were thousands of kids at the edge of their seats during the action-packed scenes just like this one.

4. Back to the Future Part II
Marty and Doc are back at it again with the time-traveling DeLorean. The sequel to Back to the Future was just as good as its predecessor. This time, they actually went to the future and had to get back to the past, rather than going to the past and then returning to their future. Heavy.
[ new page = Batman ]
3. Batman
Before Christian Bale and Val Kilmer (I am purposely omitting George Clooney), and after Adam West it was Michael Keaton behind the black mask driving the Batmobile. And before Heath Ledger wowed us with his portrayal of The Joker, it was Jack Nicholson who played the maniacal villain in a maniacally brilliant way.
[ new page = When Harry Met Sally ]
2. When Harry Met Sally
It really has been 25 years since When Harry Met Sally tackled the subject of sex and whether it gets in the way of friendship. It also has been 25 years since people have been saying things like, “I was having a Harry-and-Sally relationship,” or, “She's the Harry to my Sally.” The film has inspired other films such as A Lot Like Love, and it's referenced in different movies and shows. Most recently, The Mindy Project, which has mentioned the film is the main character's favorite, has a very similar structure with characters Mindy and Danny. It's been 25 years and we still want to have what she's having.

1. Say Anything...
This movie is at the top of the list because Lloyd so genuinely wanted to win over Diane, that he preferred to get hurt than to not try at all. It's at the top because Lloyd chose Peter Gabriel's “In Your Eyes” to blast in his boombox for Diane. It's at the top of the list because the way to the beautiful valedictorian's heart was not found with any tricks or special moves, but with Lloyd's simple but honest request, “Let's go out.” And it's at the top of the list because if we were Diane Court, we would honestly fall for Lloyd, too.
