According to the Variety, Transformers: Age of Extinction destroyed the box office on Friday making over $41.6 million, which is the largest opening of the year. Paramount estimated that the movie would exceed $100 million in the opening weekend. This estimation would mean that it would be Bay's second biggest opening for his $2.6 billion series. The biggest opening was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen which released in 2009 with an opening of $109 million. This movie set a record in China earning $3.5 million from midnight previews on Thursday.

Forbes accounts that Transformers 4 marked the biggest movie opening weekend of this year. The movie earned a powerful $100 million in America and $301.3 million around the world. The movie played 64% male and 35% female, as well as 57% for the age group above 25. For ages 18 and under, the movie played only 27%. This is quite rare for a high budget entertainment franchise that features robots transforming into cars. Transformers is also doing great overseas.
