Since the finale of season one of True Detective aired on HBO, questions have been raised as to what will be happening in season two, as the anthology series would mean that Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson would not be returning.
Although rumors were being spread that the show would center on two or three leads, one of which would be a female, it appears that, according to the show's first teleplay, the show will only be centered on one lead. That one lead, of which, being a male.
The new reports surfaced when TheWrap tweeted the following:
#TrueDetective Twitter EXCLU: The 1st script for 2nd season is IN & agency sources tell us it features one MALE lead & male/female co-stars.

If this is true, this would seem to conflict with rumors spread around this time last month that the leads would be modeled off of Jessica Chastain, Christian Bale and Joaquin Phoenix.
Though, it is possible that series creator Nic Pizzolatto does have three leads, but is presenting them in an atypcial way. Perhaps one episode will be devoted to one specific lead?
Well, whatever is happening, more details are likely to be dispelled in near-time.
