New York Yankees star pitcher Masahiro Tanaka showed his dominance in his most recent performance against the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays. He picked up his 11 win of the season leading the charge in a 3-1 victory. Because of Tanaka, the Yankees are now just three and a half games out of first place in the AL East division.

With a record of 11-1 and an ERA of 1.99, Tanaka has a change of becoming the first rookie ever to win an AL Cy Young award. On the season Tanaka has 113 strikeouts already and only 16 walks. There has not been a game where he has started that he has completely fell apart yet, according to CBS Sports.

He has impressed manager Joe Girardi as of late. He explained that what Tanaka has done this year is a key factor to the Yankees success this year. He believes what Tanaka has accomplished thus far is remarkable. Girardi says it is not fair to expect this type of performance from any player because Tanaka has done so well.

"I don't think it's fair to expect this from anyone — I don't care what your stuff is. I don't care if you throw 110. What he's done is remarkable. He has been a big part of our success this year and continues to grind out starts, make adjustments and give us distance,” said Girardi, reported by True Jersey.
