Zoe Kravitz took her role in “The Road Within” to a new level. The star ate clay to lose weight for the film.
In the film, Kravitz plays a bulimic and anorexic young woman named Marie.
According toNY Daily News, the actress went on a cleanse.
“I ended up drinking clay because it cleans out your body and fills you up. I was eating like a Mason jar of pureed vegetables a day and running,” she said.
The clay based drink was comprised of bentonite clay, which is believed to help purify the body, US Weekly reported.
For Kravitz, playing the role in the upcoming film was a reminder of past struggle with disordered eating.
“I’ve struggled with it myself in the past. I think all young women do. There are a bunch of images that are thrown in our faces all the time about what we’re supposed to look like at 14,15,16. It’s all confusing,” Kravitz said.
Kravitz said the diet was “awful” and wouldn’t encourage anyone to do it.
