Cote de Pablo may have left NCIS, but she is staying with CBS for her next gig. The actress has signed on to star in The Dovekeepers, a new series from The Bible producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett.
The series will be based on Alice Hoffman’s 2011 novel, which is sent during the siege of Masada in 70 C.E. It centers on four women, one of whom will be plated by de Pablo.
Her character is Shirah, a mysterious and independent single mother. Since she has strange powers, some call her the “Witch of Moab” and practices ancient rites. Even though they don’t like her, that won’t stop people from asking for her help.
“We are thrilled to have Cote de Pablo starring in The Dovekeepers,” Downey said in a statement. “Her talent, strength and beauty will light up the screen in the important role of Shirah.”
de Pablo is best known for her role as Ziva David on NCIS for eight seasons. HEr other credits include The Jury, The $treet, The Education of Max Bickford and Control. She will also appear on the big screen in The 33, an upcoming film on the rescued Chilean miners.
The Dovekeepers will last four hours and is set to air sometime next year. This will be the first project from CBS Television Studios’ special Limited Series and Event Programming unit.
