Either the judge was in a good mood or an Alec Baldwin fan when he let off the actor after he appeared in court for riding his bicycle against traffic.
Although Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf retired from public life, both made an appearance in the same Manhattan court on Thursday. However, Baldwin made an appearance after LaBeouf, reported Fox News.
The crime seemed petty to Baldwin, but not to New York City officers who spotted him breaking a law many seem to take for granted. Baldwin was described by witnesses as being angry, and using vulgar language, reported the New York Daily News.
“How old are these officers? They don’t even know who I am,” Baldwin said.
Things in court had a different tone for Baldwin. Alongside looking over the charges, Judge John Delury had a seemingly friendly conversation with Baldwin, even acknowledging one of his movies.
“You were in the ‘Search for Red October’?” the judge asked.
Although he was off by one word, Baldwin corrected him. The judge even asked Baldwin to apologize, who responded by saying he would rather “pay a fine.” Despite not giving an apology, Baldwin left court the Manhattan court one lucky man with no charges on his record. He also left with a short scolding from the judge.
“Be a good boy from now on. Have a good day,” Judge Delury said.
As he left court and went along his business, he stopped to share a moment with four homeless men.
“We had a total ‘bro-ment’,” one of the four men said.
In all, it was a lucky day for Baldwin who left with a clean record and made four fans feel special.
