Alec Baldwin was in court early this morning for a hearing related to his disorderly conduct arrest in May. He refused to apologize to the New York Police Department for the incident and told a judge he would rather pay the fine.

Back in May, Baldwin was arrested initially just for a simply bicycling violation. However, he went into typical Baldwin-mode and got physical with the arresting officer. So, the NYPD decided to charge him for disorderly conduct as well. That was followed with a Twitter rant (also typical Baldwin), in which he actually named the officer that arrested him and gave his badge number.

Baldwin was back in court today and his tweet this morning was definitely a preview of his plans for the hearing. “NY City is a mismanaged carnival of stupidity that is desperate for revenue and anxious to criminalize behavior once thought benign,” he wrote.

“Can you stay out of trouble, Alexander?” Judge John Delury asked the former 30 Rock star in the Manhattan courtroom, notes The Daily News.

“Sure, sure,” the actor replied with a smile.

“Be a good boy from now on...Have a good day,” Delury replied.

Delury then gave Baldwin an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal. However, during the hearing, a woman with Baldwin did suggest that the case could be solved with a fine. Delury said that Baldwin could apologize, but Baldwin liked the fine idea more.

“Looks like you have a short fuse,” Delury said after complimenting Baldwin for The Hunt For Red October.
