Michael Douglas recently revealed the details of his battle with tongue cancer.

Douglas was originally diagnosed with cancer in 2010 after he began experiencing gum and molar pain, reports CNN. The Wall Street actor had originally announced that he had throat cancer, explaining his doctor advised him against telling the truth.

At the recent 5th World Congress for the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies, Douglas spoke to a number of doctors about his dreadful experience battling cancer.

"When I learned that I had stage-four cancer, I'm pretty sure that my eyes rolled into the back of my head," Douglas explained at the event. "From the little I knew, this wasn't good. And I think that was probably the scariest moment I faced."

The actor was treated near his home in New York City at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which is ranked as the number one hospital for cancer by US News & World Report.

“I went through seven weeks of radiation and chemotherapy, which somehow seemed very accurately mapped to the seven circles of hell," the Las Vegas actor confessed. "Each week I sank a little lower and I felt a little -- no, I felt a lot worse."

Douglas most recently appeared alongside Diane Keaton (The Godfather: Part 2) in And So it Goes and is currently working on Ant Man, which will be released in July of 2015.
