Nickelodeon show Sam and Cat, which starred Ariana Grande and Jeanette McCurdy, has been cancelled after on season.

According to Deadline, Nickelodeon made the cancellation after the show went on a “permanent hiatus” back in April.

“Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat. We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best,” announced the network in a released statement.
There are rumors that behind-the-scenes drama is what brought the hit children’s show to close. According to New York Daily News, lead actresses McCurdy and Grande had a rift over “unfair treatment” by Nickelodeon. At the time the show stopped filming Grande’s music career took off and McCurdy had a personal scandal when racy pictures of her appeared online.
The show was one of the best rated shows on Nickelodeon, with one of its hour long episodes having 4.8 million viewers. The show centered around iCarly’s Sam Puckett and Victorious’s Cat Valentine, who are roommates that run a babysitting business.
Singer/actress Ariana Grande took to her Twitter page to express her feelings on the cancellation.

"I want to thank Nickelodeon for making a childhood dream of mine come true, for being a family to me, for being so accommodating and supportive of my multitasking with my music career, and for of course introducing me to many of my fans however many years ago."
