Due to the rising tensions in Gaza, the Backstreet Boys canceled three concerts in Israel scheduled for July 29-31, all of which were completely sold out.
The band’s official website released a statement Sunday apologizing to all the fans who were eagerly awaiting the performances. “This is a major disappointment for the band and fans as this was to be our first visit to Israel and we looked forward to meeting our fans.”
But, the statement noted that the concerts will be rescheduled for Spring 2015, and that those who hold tickets will be able to attend the future shows. Refunds will be granted to those who so desire.
The concerts were due to take place at the Raanana Amphitheater in Tel Aviv.
The Backstreet Boys are not the first performers to be effected by the Gaza conflict. Singer Paul Anka also cancelled two Tel Aviv concerts scheduled for this week, according to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. And Neil Young recently cancelled his Israel tour dates.
