BBC America announced on Wednesday that hit drama series Orphan Black would be returning for a third season, while also revealing two new series, The Last Kingdom and Tatau, and the return of Broadchurch.
Orphan Black, which stars Golden Globe-nominated actress Tatiana Maslany, Jordan Gavaris and many others, will return for a 10-episode third season in 2015. The drama series has done well for BBC America in the ratings, managing to double its 18-49 demographic ratings in the Live+7 between its first two seasons.
The award-winning drama Broadchurch will also return in 2015 and currently is also in production. David Tennant - who also is starring in the U.S. remake, Olivia Colman, Arthur Darvill and Jodie Whittaker will return for the second series. Academy award nominee Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Charlotte Rampling and Eve Myles are joining the cast.
BBC America also greenlit eight-episode series Tatau and The Last Kingdom. Production for both series will begin later this year and neither has begun casting.
Tatau follows two friends in their 20s as they travel the world. They end up at the Cook Islands, where one gets a tattoo that South Pacific locals are nervous about. He believes he has discovered a dead body, only for local authorities to doubt him after the body disappears. Both friends believe that perhaps he has seen the future and they try to save the girl he saw.
The Last Kingdom is set in England 872 with Viking raiders having captured all but the Kingdom of Wessex.
