The Boston Red Sox traded left-handed reliever Andrew Miller to the Baltimore Orioles Thursday for left-handed pitching prospect Eduardo Rodriguez.

This move comes after Boston pulled off two blockbuster trades to ship off Jon Lester along with Jonny Gomes to Oakland for Home Run Derby champ Yoenis Cespedes, and moving veteran pitcher John Lackey to St. Louis for Allen Craig and right-hander Joe Kelly.

Miller, 29, has allowed just 25 hits and struck out 69 batters over 42.1 innings this season according to Fox Sports. Miller was one of the most sought-after bullpen arms after his dominant first half.

Miller also shined in the postseason last year with a 2.64 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 30.2 innings pitched. Since taking the role as a full-time reliever in 2012, Miller has averaged 13.3 strikeouts per nine innings.

Rodriguez, 21, is the Orioles’ number three prospect. He has a combined 3.41 ERA with 129 strikeouts in 145 innings between High-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie according to SB Nation.

Rodriguez is a great investment for Boston with a fastball clocked as high as 95. He has the potential to develop into a number three starter or a nice bullpen arm if he continues to struggle against right-handed batters.
