The Los Angeles Lakers have made a head-coaching offer to Byron Scott. Scott and the organization are currently in negotiations about his contract.
On Thursday owner Jim Buss maid Scott a verbal offer, according to ESPN. It has been reported that Scott has met with the Lakers three times to discuss the possibility of being the coach, and Kobe Bryant is in favor of having Scott on board.
Bryant has a lot of respect for Scott because he was around for Kobe’s rookie season. The black mamba was just a kid out of high school, and Scott was a veteran who had won multiple championships in the past.
He was a former teammate of Magic Johnson, James Worthy, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the 1980’s, so Scott understands the winning culture of Los Angeles.
Being that Scott has been a head-coach in the NBA, he is more than capable of leading a team to the playoffs. He coached Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets when they reached the NBA finals two years in a row.
However, Los Angeles is being very careful about picking the next coach because they have just fired Mike D'Antoni, proven by USA Today.
