A future tip for all radio hosts: do not mention Cameron Diaz’s private life of her best friends in a negative light because if done, that interview will end quickly.

Diaz and her co-star Jason Segel were doing a radio interview for Australia’s KIIS 106.5’s “Kyle & Jackie O” promoting their new film Sex Tape when host Kyle Sandilands made a jab at Diaz’s best friend Drew Barrymore reports Us Weekly.

Jackie O began by asking Diaz if she felt the actress who portrays her daughter in the film, Giselle Eisenberg, reminded her of Barrymore in E.T. It seemed harmless as Diaz responded with an agreement but quickly took a turn when Sandilands commented with, “Let's hope she misses out on the Drew Barrymore drug years, because those were a great thing to watch, but not so good to be in, I'd imagine.”

After a few moments or so of silence from Diaz, she fired back, "I'm sure, Kyle, you've never been through a drug phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean… always did it right? Congratulations.”

The horror show continued as Sandilands then made point to bring up Diaz’s recent boyfriend Benji Madden and even though Jackie O tried to redirect the conversation to Segel pertaining to his weight loss, the interview was over. “We have to go now. Sorry they’re wrapping us up,” Diaz informed the hosts before politely thanking the hosts for the press time and hung up.

The Huffington Post notes that following Diaz and Segel’s departure Jackie O went on to say, “Well, that started very well and ended poorly, I think. Good one, Kyle. You ruined that interview. Sorry to be blunt. You brought up Drew Barrymore, her best friend's drug addiction in the past ... She's her best friend. And then you brought up Benji. We all know how protective Cameron is about her private life.”

Sandilands’ felt no remorse as he replied with, "Maybe, they should've just bought ads if they wanted to sell the movie,” which could have left a bad taste in anyone’s mouth.
