Casey Kasem's daughter is claiming that her stepmother managed to slip out of the country with her father's body.
More than a month after Kasem passed away, it was reported that he still had not been buried and the body remained in a Washington funeral home.
The holdup was over where he should be buried, as his children led by daughter Kerri wanted to follow Kasem's wishes and have him buried at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, which is located in Glendale, California, while Jean Kasem argued she should be able to choose his final resting place.
Now, it seems that Jean was determined to have things her way and took the former voice of Shaggy out of the Gaffney Funeral Home, according to the New York Daily News, and fled the country.
"My stepmother is doing everything to keep my father's burial a secret so that none of his loved ones can visit," Kerri exclusively told the site. "She's just spiteful, malicious and vindictive."
Jean had custody of the body and managed to get away before a judge could grant a temporary restraining order preventing the stepmother from taking Kasem's body to Canada, where she wanted him buried, which confused his daughter.
"My dad has nothing to do with Canada. He lived in Los Angeles for 45 years. It just once more again proves that my stepmother is not acting in my father's best interest."
