The new Steven Spielberg produced drama Extant may experience an uptick in ratings with a little help from CBS.

The Associated Press reports that starting Wednesday, Extant, which stars Halle Berry, will be moved back an hour from 9 to 10 p.m. EST. The change is due to CBS's belief that by moving Extant to 10 p.m., it will have a smoother segue with Criminal Minds as opposed to the show that currently precedes it Big Brother.

According to Variety, CBS has made similar changes previously and they have worked. Earlier in the summer, CBS moved Sunday drama Reckless to the 10 o'clock time-slot in place of Unforgettable, which stars Poppy Montgomery. Since the move both have seen increasing success with Unforgettable experiencing a boost in ratings while Reckless has had an increase in total viewers.

Last week Extant drew in 6.5 million viewers, which was enough to make the Nielsen top 10. However 6.5 million was not the figure CBS was anticipating for it's new show, and the show was beat out by two NCIS reruns, according to The Associated Press.
