Singer Melanie Fiona and actress Becki Newton are celebrating their birthdays today.

R&B recording artist Melanie fiona turns 31 today. Fiona started her career in 2002 as part of a Canadian musical girl band trio X-Quisite. She went on to be part of The Renaissance, with rapper Drake. Under the name Syren Hall, Fiona also recorded some reggae songs.

Fiona's debut solo album The Bridge was released in 2009. Her debut single, "Give It to Me Right", peaked at No. 20 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart and number 41 on the UK Singles Chart. The second single, "It Kills Me", became her breakout song on the Billboard Hot 100 where it entered the Top 50, along with topping the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The song earned Fiona a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. The song "Monday Morning" is her biggest hit in Europe to date. The Bridge also earned her a NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding New Artist. In 2012, Fiona won two Grammy Awards for Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song for the song "Fool for You" with CeeLo Green.

Her second studio album, The MF Life, was released March 2012, and debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 chart. Fiona is currently working on her third studio album.

Becki Newton, 36

Actress Becki Newton turns 36 today. Newton is known for portraying the character Amanda Tanen in the comedy-drama series Ugly Betty from 2006 until its cancellation in 2010. In late 2009, Newton performed at a New York City Center Encores! presentation of the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy, which was directed by Jerry Zaks. She portrayed Molly Gray and performed opposite real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos.

Newton starred in the television series Love Bites. Love Bites aired in summer 2011 on NBC and was cancelled after eight episodes. In November 2011, Newton was cast on CBS's How I Met Your Mother as Quinn, a love interest for Neil Patrick Harris's character Barney Stinson. In 2013, Newton starred in the Fox mid-season TV series The Goodwin Games.

Newton is married to Canadian actor and comedian Chris Diamantopoulos, and have a son.

Newton has also made appearances on Law & Order: SVU, Charmed, American Dad! and the film August Rush.
