Chandler Parsons has reportedly agreed to a multi-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks a day ahead of when the free agency moratorium is lifted.
League sources told Yahoo Sports that the Mavericks have offered Parsons a three-year, 46 million deal. Since he is a restricted free agent, the Houston Rockets will have a short period to decide if they wish to match the deal.
The Rockets and Parsons tried to get a deal ironed out, but were unable to and have since been in talks with other free agents who could replace the forward should general manager Daryl Morey decide to let Parsons walk.
Parsons has been a stellar piece for the Rockets, contributing 16.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this past season.
The deal might also be a way to stick it to the Rockets, notes the Dallas News, and force them to decide if they want to slip into the luxury tax as the Rockets continue to look towards trying to sign Chris Bosh.
The Rockets offered the 6-foot-11 forward a max four-year deal worth north of $80 million as they look to try and put together their own Big 3 of Dwight Howard, James Harden and Bosh.
