It has been reported that Chase Headley will be traded to the New York Yankees from the San Diego Padres.
The Bronx bombers traded away infielder Yangervis Solarte a long with minor league pitcher Rafael De Paula for Headley, reports ESPN. Also, in the deal the Padres will be giving the Yankees $1 million.
This trade was made to add a spark in the Yankees lineup that has been needed for a while. In 2012, Headley had a fantastic season producing 31 home runs, and 115 runs batted in. His runs batted in total were the highest in the National League in 2012.
Headley has proven he can play defense as well. In 2012, he won a Gold Glove award, according to MLB.com.
His past resume proves he has the ability to hit for power and drive in runs. However, the past two seasons have not been so good for Headley.
He looks to return to form heading over to a team that has a chance to win the American League Eastern Division. Headley can take advantage of the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium.
