The Cincinnati Reds have place first baseman Joey Votto on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left quadriceps muscle.
Votto has already missed 23 games this season with a strained muscle in his left knee, according to ESPN.
Reds manager Bryan Price told Cincinnati.com on Sunday, that when Votto came back from his first trip to the DL, the team knew he wasn’t going to be 100 percent until after the season.
He followed this up on Tuesday by saying that it won’t be a short-term recovery.

Since returning from the disabled list, Votto batted only .250 in 23 games and has not hit a home run since May 10.
Price benched him for both the Reds Sunday and Monday games.
“It’s becoming apparent in the quality of his play that it’s not just something that’s an inconvenience,” he said. “It’s getting to the point where it’s very difficult for him to compete.”
Votto, the 2010 National League MVP, is a career .310 hitter with 163 home runs and 533 runs-batted-in in eight MLB seasons.
