Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston, is speaking out against the Lifetime biopic about her late daughter’s life starring Yaya DaCosta.
The film is being directed by Houston’s Waiting to Exhale co-star, Angela Bassett, with Deborah Cox providing vocals.
In a statement, Cissy said she was troubled by the fact that the film is being made by people who did not know her daughter personally.
“In the two years since Whitney’s death, many people have stepped forward to speak about their close relationship with her. I find it difficult to believe people who knew and supposedly loved her would participate in a movie about her done by folks who didn’t know her,” she said, Entertainment Weekly reports. “We are exhausted by the continuing misinformation and comments offered by people who did not know her. Please please let her rest.”
Houston’s only daughter, Bobbi Kristina, took to Twitter last month to blast Bassett over comments she made about not asking her to be in the film because she’s not really an actress.
“When I win my first Grammy or Oscar, *Shrugs* hmm whichever comes1st, I'll be sure 2shout URname out b-tch ! hahUrTestResults= MALE. Lmao.”
