Columbus Short, who previously starred on Scandal, was arrested for public intoxication Friday night, after getting into an altercation over a bar tab.

According to the New York Daily News, the actor was celebrating Independence Day at the Katy Trail Ice House in Dallas, Texas. When Short started to leave without paying for his drinks, the bar’s security guard approached him. TMZ reports that the intoxicated Short became aggravated and began accusing the guard of being racist, despite, as the Daily Mail notes, the guard was also African American.

Police officers tried to break up the altercation, and were accosted by Short, who, as the Daily News suggests, allegedly turned on them.

A witness to Short’s attack described the ex-Scandal star “like a dog with a bone who wouldn’t let go.”

Short was then arrested for public intoxication.

This is not Short’s first run in with the law. As we have reported in the past, Short has been involved in other bar fights, arrested on a battery charge, and had his wife file a restraining order against him after he apparently tried to kill her with a knife. The Daily Mail even noted that Last month, Short was ordered to pay a over 17 thousand dollars a month in spousal support to his estranged wife.

Following his arrest for domestic violence in April, Short announced that he would be leaving Scandal after three seasons.
