David Ortiz is not happy with his name being mentioned with getting a free pass when it comes to PED testing. Ortiz went off on a rampage after hearing his name brought up on the MLB Network.
There was a discussion involving all-star player Nelson Cruz, and how he was suspended 50 games last season because of testing positive for PED use. In the mist of talking about Cruz, the Boston slugger’s name was directly involved in the conversation.
According to WEEI.com, Big Papi addressed his opinion on the matter of the MLB Network saying baseball had a blind eye when it came to Ortiz.
"What pisses me off is the whole thing about, why does my name got to be mentioned in that? What did I have to do with that? I saw on MLB the guys talking about it, and then they brought my name up, and one of the guys said that I got a free pass on that.” Ortiz explained.
“You don’t use the words that I get a free pass. You don’t get a free pass on this. MLB don’t play that B.S. MLB don’t play that. There’s a reason why I’ve been drug-tested like eight times and we’re not even at the break. Is that a free pass? There’s a reason why I’ve been tested like 40 times since they approved the policy, the drug policy. Is that a free pass?”
Big Papi has not been known to be a bashful guy when it comes to expressing his true feelings. His dialogue about the MLB network was a 317-word rampage.
As it stands right now on MLB.com, Ortiz has 19 home runs to go a long with 55 runs batted in. He is hitting for power as he looks to improve his numbers as the season heads towards the all-star break.
