The BBC has been forced to apologize to Doctor Who fans after scripts for upcoming episodes leaked online. BBC Worldwide issued a statement today, urging anyone who reads them not to spread spoilers on the web.
Radio Times reports that the scripts for five episodes - including Steven Moffat’s feature length season premiere episode - were leaked on their way to BBC Worldwide’s Latin American headquarters in Miami. The scripts were sent to the newly opened branch for translation.
“We deeply regret this and apologise to all the show's fans, the BBC and the cast and crew who have worked tirelessly making the series,” the statement reads.
Later, the BBC asked anyone who had acquired the scripts to not leak any plot details, notes The Hollywood Reporter. “We know only too well that Doctor Who fans are the best in the world, and we thank them for their help with this and their continued loyalty,” the BBC concluded.
On Friday, the BBC released a short teaser clip for the season premiere, which is set for Aug. 23. This will be the first season with Peter Capaldi as the Doctor and the first episode will air worldwide.
