Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan was suspended today by the NFL for the first four games of the 2014 season for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.
Jordan, 24, was picked in the first round of the 2013 draft out of the University of Oregon. The Dolphins were looking forward to what Jordan could do in his second year; “he looked as if he took an air pump and plugged it into his arms and shoulders this offseason,” accordion to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
Jordan has 19 tackles and two sacks in 16 games in 2013 for Miami. Jordan said in a released statement on Thursday, “I worked carefully with my advisors and the union to investigate the test results, and I take full responsibility for the test results.”
The Dolphins first four opponents are the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders.
Per the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement the league cannot disclose what type of drug Jordan tested positive for according to Bleacher Report.
