Ever since Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy confirmed they were leaving ABC’s The View, the rumors ran ramped about who would fill the remaining spots on the panel. So far, only Whoopi Goldberg is returning for next season.

The rumors began earlier this week that Rosie O’Donnell would be returning, and former co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck – and one-time O’Donnell rival – is now weighing in.

Hasselbeck isn’t exactly surprised at the rumors, saying on her new show Fox & Friends, “I do believe this has been in the works for a long, long time, Fox News reports.

She even argued that O’Donnell’s behavior on Barbara Walters’ goodbye show made it seem like it was just the start for the former Rosie star.

“[For O’Donnell] to have such ease the day of Barbara’s goodbye show was shocking to me,” she said. “Would you think that the woman who left the way that she did would be producing [Walters’] goodbye show? Here’s the shocker: It was actually [O’Donnell’s] hello show.”

O’Donnell left the show seven years ago after just one season. O’Donnell and Hasselbeck famously had a heated 10-minute discussion on-air, which cause the producers to show a split-screen.

“I know Rosie very well. We worked quite closely,” Hasselbeck continued. “Talk about not securing the border. Here in comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network and really in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there.”
