If anyone ever-doubted Emma Watson being the perfect Hermione Granger, think again as Watson has just been given the job of a lifetime and an extreme honor.
Watson announced Monday that she will be working for the United Nations’ gender equality arm, UN Women. Time reports that Watson is the first ambassador to be appointed to this branch under leader Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka. Mlambo-Ngcuka is the executive director and under-secretary-general of UN Women.
Watson will be working on HeForShe, a campaign towards women’s empowerment, which is a passion of Watson’s as it is an issue that she personally connects too and considers this to be one of the most exciting opportunities she has ever received.
The actress and recent college graduate shared the news on her Facebook page first saying, “I'm so thrilled to be able share this news with you all first! I hope you'll be as excited as I am. Love Emma x.” Mlambo-Ngcuka commented on Watson’s appointment by stating that her intellect and passion and experience promoting girls’ education in third world countries will help the organization spread its message.
Emma Watson, you continue to astound us with everything you do. Congratulations and good luck!
