Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe will sue the Minnesota Vikings for breaking an agreement that the team made with Kluwe. The Vikings were investigating wrongful termination allegations made by the punter and the team has not released the results.
Kluwe was released by the Vikings in May of 2013, according to SB Nation. He claims that he was released because of his pro gay rights activism during the previous season, as we previously reported.
Kluwe claims that when the Vikings started their investigation they said they would release a copy of the investigation to Kluwe and the public once it was completed.
In a statement released by the Vikings, the team said that former Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court Eric Magnuson and former US Department of Justice Trial Attorney Chris Madel confirmed that no promise was made nor broken with Kluwe. It also said, the team and Kluwe’s attorney have a meeting set up for this Thursday.
Kluwe was the Vikings punter from 2005-2012, setting many team records during his time with the organization.
