George RR Martin, the author of the A Song of Ice and Fire saga, which HBO’s Game of Thrones is based off of, will sit out next season.

Martin revealed in an interview with Vulture that he won’t be able to contribute to the show next season because he needs to finish the sixth book in the series, The Winds of Winter.

He explained, “I’m making the trips I’m already obligated to make, but I’m not adding any new trips at this time. So I don’t think I’m going to do a set visit this year, sadly.”

Martin went on to explain he won’t be able to write any episodes either, “again because I have this book to finish.”

He went on to say that he isn’t involved in the “time-consuming process” of casting as he was in earlier seasons.

ABC News reports nine new actors were added to the cast, but Martin didn’t have any involvement in it. He said it was a “well oiled machine” now that they’re five seasons into the hit show.
