Germany and Brazil are set to meet up in the World Cup semi-finals after victories on Friday over France and Colombia, respectively.
Germany topped France 1-0 in the quarterfinals early on Friday with a quick goal only 13 minutes into the match by Mats Hummels, according to The Associated Press.
The score was nearly tied towards the end of the match, when Karim Benzema slipped into the penalty area with the ball, notes the AP, but goalkeeper Manuel Neuer managed to correctly guess where the shot was going and knock it away.
Brazil won off scores with David Luiz and Thiago Silva both managing to find the back of the net, reports the Los Angeles Times. Colombia managed a single goal to lose 2-1.
While Brazil was able to score early and keep the pressure on Colombia, the team did suffer an injury to star Neymar, who was kneed in the back by Juan Zuniga. He must hope he is OK by Tuesday. Germany will for certain be down a player, after team captain Silva picked up a yellow card, which is his second.
Germany and Brazil will meet on Tuesday for only the second time in the World Cup when they face off at the stadium in Belo Horizonte. They last met in the 2002 World Cup, where Brazil was able to win 2-0.
