Talks between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors surrounding a trade involving star power forward Kevin Love really began to heat up last month; then they cooled off … until now. The two teams have begun to talk again about a possible trade.
Timberwolves president and coach Flip Saunders and Warriors general manager Bob Myers were seen together at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, and it is believed that they were discussing a potential trade.
The talks between the two teams hit an impasse in June, when Golden State refused to include shooting guard Klay Thompson in a potential trade. Instead, the Warriors were offering some combination of David Lee, Harrison Barnes and a future first-round draft pick for Love and Kevin Martin, reports ESPN.com.
Minnesota, however, has its sights set on a few specific players from teams who have expressed interest in Love. Thompson is the players from the Warriors that the Timberwolves are most interested in. Similarly, with the Cleveland Cavaliers, another team in the mix for Love, the Timberwolves are eyeing No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins, but Cleveland has stated that he is not available.
Love, who will be a free agent in 2015, posted 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game last season, according to SI.com.
