J.R. Ramirez has signed on to play Wildcat in The CW's popular DC series Arrow in the coming third season.
According to Deadline, who first reported the casting, the role could be recurring, but nothing is set in stone yet.
Ramirez, who previously was on the network's Emily Owens, MD, will appear as Ted Grant, aka Wildcat, who shows up in Arrow, which stars Stephen Amell (right), as a former boxer, with a mysterious past, who works with underprivileged youth at a gym. Wildcat will have an important role in the upcoming season for Laurel Lance's arc.
In comic books, Wildcat is the Black Canary's mentor and belongs to the group Justice Society for America.
Ramirez isn't the only new face appearing in the fall, as Ra's al Ghul is the third season's big bad and Superman Returns star Brandon Routh will also show up. He was cast in a recurring role as Ray Palmer, aka The Atom. Devin Aoki is also on board as Katana.
Wildcat's inclusion into the season was first announced over the weekend at Comic-Con by executive producer Marc Guggenheim.
Arrow returns on Oct. 8 to The CW.
