Jennifer Love Hewitt is coming back to CBS. She will have a part in the long-running series Criminal Minds.
The eye network made the casting announcement on Tuesday afternoon. Hewitt has been cast as Kate Callahan, an experienced FBI undercover agent who joins the Behavioral Analysis Unit.
“We’re thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast,” Criminal Minds showrunner Erica Messer said in a statement. “Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again. We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season.”
Hewitt starred on Ghost Whisperer for five seasons on CBS and then she transitioned to cable on Lifetime’s The Client List, starring in both the TV movie and series. She also has a Golden Globe nomination on her resume for the movie. She’s also appeared in The Lost Valentine, The Audrey Hepburn Story and Party of Five on television. On the feature side, she’s best known for I Know What You Did Last Summer and the sequel.
Criminal Minds will be starting its 10th season this fall. Back in February, the show marked its 200th episode.
