The Los Angeles Lakers are ready to acquire Jeremy Lin in a trade with the Houston Rockets. The Rockets are clearing salary-cap space, while the Lakers got a quality NBA player to sell tickets in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Lakers wanted to make this deal happen also because they knew Lin would be under contract for just one season with them, ESPN reports. The Lakers are willing to give Lin a chance to see what he can do for the historic franchise.

Houston is also looking to trade Omer Asik to the New Orleans Pelicans to have more flexibility to sign an all-star or other usefu talents. Chris Bosh is out of the question because he is going back to the Heat, Yahoo Sports announced.

The Rockets have not won an NBA championship since 1995, and is looking to have a core group of high caliber talent to compete in the future. A heavy push is aimed at Chandler Parsons to team up with Dwight Howard and James Harden.

As a Houston Rocket last season, he averaged 12.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, according to NBA.com.
