Things stopped being funny for notorious funnywoman Joan Rivers after she walked off the set of a CNN interview Saturday.
The interview was with anchor Fredricka Whitfield to promote Rivers’ new book Diary of a Mad Diva, according to The Slanted. Whitfield asked Rivers what her limit was in her jokes and mockery of other stars; Mediaite also reports that Whitfield asked Rivers about whether or not she was affected by PETA’s outrage over her wearing a fur coat on the cover of her book. Rivers took offense to this line of questioning saying, “This whole interview is becoming a defensive interview. You are not the one to interview a person who does humor, sorry,” before exiting the set.”
Rivers claimed that the interview had taken too much of a “negative” tone and even when Whitfield tried to redirect the interview Rivers was determined to leave citing her 50 years of experience in comedy before finally saying, “I’m going. Really, I’m going.”
Despite her touchy response to today’s interview, Rivers has been known to ruffle feathers. Most recently she was caught on camera calling President Barack Obama “gay,” and his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, transgender.
