Johnny Manziel has not even suited up for his first professional game, but that did not stop Snickers from making a deal with the 22nd pick of the 2014 NFL draft on Friday.
The Cleaveland Browns quarterback will star in Snickers “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” campaign. A national TV commercial is set to be released closer to the start of the NFL season according to ESPN.com.
The Snickers brand is the most popular candy bar in the world with more than $3.5 billion in annual global sales. Snickers has been an NFL sponsor dating back to 2002.
Manziel has already filmed commercials for McDonald’s and Nissan and a digital spot for Nike.
Though he wasn’t the first quarterback selected in the past NFL draft, Manziel has proved he is marketable, selling more jerseys than any other rookie according to Yahoo.com.
Manziel is not even the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback, a job that belongs to Brian Hoyer. Hoyer is coming off a torn ACL last season.
