The Good-To-Go Cookbook is a MUST AND A HALF for the on the run parent/family! I was sent a copy to check out and I was wondering by page 5 where this has been for the last 5 years of my life. Do you have the same issues I have with juggling a million items in the air at once? Who works until 5 has to be at dance at 5:15 and football by 6? You walk through your door at 8 to realize: what is for dinner and who made it? (LOL). Who is tired of the drive through gross-ness destroying our attempt at keeping these kids healthy? If the answer to all of these questions is YES then grab a hold of this book ASAP.
This cookbook was expertly written by Kathleen Cannata Hanna who juggles a successful baking and catering business along with raising her two children. Hanna feels very strongly that you can eat homemade where ever you are: at the dining room table, in your kitchen, on the ball field even in the car! "Good To Go" provides over 300 awesome recipes great as snacks, breakfast, meals, treats and all with prep to complete in under 30 minutes. One of my favorite sections of the book was at the beginning when she suggests different types of ways to cook chicken ahead of time to use in recipes during the week. The breakfast pizza has become a regular dinner time staple in my house (LOL). Her "Waffle Sandwich To Go" (waffles meet PB & J) are constantly in my tote heading to work. Hanna's "Warm Drink for a Cold Soccer Game" will be a MUST for football season. Who wouldn't enjoy an early morning warm cran/pineapple/cinnamon stick beverage? I may bring enough for the whole team. I think the best part of the book though is the "Grab and Go" section for on the run snacks. We can finally throw away chips and fruit snacks and make our own healthy options in such a short amount of time. Hanna's BLT Soup will take you 25 minutes and the kids loved it. I put the 15 minute chicken and rice recipe to the test and it was PERFECTLY ACCURATE! In no time at all, we were dining on a yummy dinner. You can literally start this at 6:30! As for the One-Pot Meals section; I cannot wait to try the "Fall Clean Up Soup"; literally the perfect solution to "what the heck is in my freezer/pantry?". Tonight, we actually combined Good-To-Go's "Kids-Love-This-Pasta Pasta" (pasta/broccoli/velveeta) and the "Real Garlic Bread" for a simple and delicious carb overload. Can you say comfort food? Finally, the book closes with desserts such as easy s'mores and 10 minute cookies that are sure to end any hectic schedule in the most perfect way.
The Good-To-Go" cookbook can be found on amazon.com, at barnes and noble as well as on iTunes and Goodreads. It retails for $16.95 a small price to pay for organization during the school year I say! Run and grab your copy before school is upon you!
