A homeless man carrying a knife showed up to ABC studios on Tuesday morning, threatening to kill Good Morning America co-host kill Michael Strahan.

Andre Johnson, 25, was outside the studio in Times Square in New York City around 8am, waiting for the cast to do their usual hand-shakes with the crowd.

“The suspect went to the entrance of ABC studios and demanded that security let him into the studio,” an NYPD source told Fox News. “He was denied entrance, at which time he showed a knife. He [then] attempted to stab a security guard.”

Strahan was detained and the knife was taken from him by a police officer working security for ABC.

He later told police during questioning that his intentions were to kill Strahan. Johnson is being charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. As of Wednesday morning, he was still in jail being held without bail, according to New York Post, who first reported the story.

Strahan also hosts Live! with Kelly and Michael.
