This week’s episode revolves around dinner parties and etiquette and the Caprice/Caroline battle remains alive and well.
We start out at Slades Farm where Caroline is visiting an ailing Annabelle. She brings her a handful of dvds and a brand new tv to watch them. Annabelle is doing pretty well considering she fell off of a horse going 45 mph. She’s out of the hospital and recuperating at home. The conversation turns to the battle between Caroline and Caprice. Annabelle urges Caroline to take the high road. She believes the issue isn’t about a baby shower or any petty fight; it’s about a power struggle for queen bee. Caroline says that she will try, but she’s not sure she can.
Moving on, we see Caprice confront her boyfriend Ty about their surrogate starting to dilate. Caprice is flipping out, but Ty takes the news in stride. He doesn’t think there is a reason to panic because dilating can take weeks. Caprice phones the surrogate to check on her and her worries are temporarily put to rest when the surrogate tells her that they’ve got some time before the baby is born.
Heading back to Caroline, we see her in her office with her assistant, Rania, planning a dinner party. After some mulling over, she decides to include Caprice because her manners include not ostracizing people. She gets a dig in when she comments that she hopes Caprice can make it the long way out to her home. Along with the dinner planning Caroline has decided to invite Juliet and Noelle to an etiquette class to correct the bullish behavior she saw from them at Mapperton.
The scene turns back to Slades Farm. This time it’s Caprice and Julie visiting Annabelle. Caprice hugs Annabelle upon entering her room and over dramatically tells her how beautiful she is in a hushed tone. Again Annabelle pushes for the gossip, wondering about Caprice’s side of the argument. After some explanation, Annabelle tells Caprice that this fight is so minor in the game of life and it’s time to kiss and make up with Caroline. Not happy with this news, Caprice turns on the tears and explains that she’s overwhelmed with all of the baby things going on and can’t possibly deal with the Caroline situation.
We’ve arrived at the etiquette party with Caroline and Noelle. Juliet is late of course so the ladies begin without her. By beginning I mean the etiquette coach explains to Noelle that she has done everything wrong since walking in the door. Juliet arrives and flips out when she finds out that this class is to correct her behavior from Mapperton. In her talking head interview, Noelle states firmly that if she knew it was going to be like this, she would not have attended. Juliet takes it more in stride claiming she just got out of the cage for the night. The subject of Mapperton arises and the etiquette coach explains that Juliet shouldn’t have made a big deal about what was served. She should have quietly put it aside. Also, she’s told that she should not have called Annabelle out on the street. If she had a problem with her, she should have pulled her into a private spot and dealt with it quietly. After fighting for her point of view, Juliet realizes that she is in England and needs to adapt to their cultural ways sometimes.
Caprice is losing it again with all of her stress so she calls Julie for attention. She complains again about the surrogate dilating and then she has to shoot her big campaign. She feels pulled in every direction. Julie successfully calms her down this time.
There’s a quick scene of Caroline, Juliet, Marissa, and Noelle heading to the Wellington to celebrate Marissa’s citizenship. The owner is a close friend of Caroline and he shares some stories of Caroline’s wild teenage days. The ladies take a look at a signed Sex Pistols poster and other crazy décor at the Wellington before settling in for cocktails and chat. Noelle takes the opportunity to bring up Caprice’s baby shower/going away party. Marissa tries to get away from the drama by calling it more of a going away party now so Caroline won’t be offended about cancelling the baby shower she had planned for Caprice. Caroline isn’t fooled. Juliet questions why Caprice would ask Noelle and Marissa to plan the party, as they don’t seem as close as Caprice’s other friends. Marissa instantly takes offense and says having a baby is a big deal and she wants to plan a party for it. In her talking heads interview, Caroline states that they are being taken advantage of by Caprice.
We’re at the photo shoot with Caprice for her By Caprice line. The shoot starts off rocky with not enough poof to the model’s hair and not enough cleavage on the lingerie. Eventually the production staff gets it right and Caprice is happy with the results. Thank goodness she was there to direct! After the photo shoot, Noelle stops by to talk to Caprice. She tries to convince her to come to Caroline’s dinner party. Caprice says she’s leaving to the States and can’t make it. At this time Noelle brings up the fact that Caroline is giving her a hard time for planning the baby shower. Caprice takes it hard and complains that Caroline is a bad person wonders why she can’t just be happy for her. This is the breaking point where Caprice decides to attend the party and confront Caroline. Realizing the can of worms she’s opened, Noelle tries to back pedal and tells Caprice to not worry about it and just stay home and rest. Caprice will hear none of it. Her mind is made up and she’s going to the dinner party.
We’re finally at the dinner party. Caroline is meeting with her staff and reiterating that everything needs to be perfect and she won’t accept anything less. Marissa and Juliet stop by Noelle’s flat to pick her up. They tease her about her shiny gold dress. She hops into the van and immediately decides to open the bottle of champagne that she had been planning on gifting to Caroline. Juliet and Marissa are in awe, but Noelle says that Caroline will be more happy that she’s bringing happy people to the party than she would be about the champagne. Noelle goes onto explain that she’s spoken to Caprice about the fight she had with Caroline about the baby shower. Juliet believes that it was a bad move. You don’t get into the middle of someone else’s fight and pit the two against each other.
Julie arrives, with a full bottle of champagne, and then Juliet, Noelle, and Marissa walk through the door. Instantly, Caroline can tell that Noelle is tipsy and she takes offense at the fact that she drank her gift on the way out. Dinner is served and we see Caprice leaving her house for the party. She’s nervous, but trying to be brave because she wants to play nice. Back at the party, the ladies are getting seated but Noelle lags behind and is drunkenly complaining to Julie that she’s caught in the middle between Caprice and Caroline. The dinner commences and everyone agrees that the food is delicious and the evening is wonderful so far. Marissa takes the lovely moment to bring up Caprice and ask when she’ll be arriving. Noelle leans over to Marissa and not so quietly whispers that Caprice flipped out about Caroline earlier in the day. Everyone at the table can hear her words and the episode cuts off. Next week the dinner party explodes for the big season finale.
