It is official, former Indiana Pacer lighting rod Lance Stephenson will be joining the Charlotte Hornets next season.
Stephenson’s name has been mentioned in the NBA offseason free agency discussion throughout the 2014 summer. Stephenson felt that the Pacers should have offered him more money then they did.
The Pacers offered Stephenson $44 million over five seasons, and that contract offer led to his departure from the organization. With the Hornets, he will earn $9 million next year, and $9 million in the 2016-17 season, reports the Charlotte Observer.
Other teams were making a run at Stephenson as well, however he ultimately chose Charlotte. Stephenson has a chance to be a huge factor for the Hornets, and play a much bigger role for the team compared to what he did for the Pacers in the past.
According to ESPN, last season Stephenson averaged 13.8 points per game, 7.2 rebounds per game, and 4.6 assists per game. It was his best season thus far in the NBA.
