Lindsay Lohan’s mantra is obviously “If at first you don’t succeed, try again.” Considering she has tried and failed to sustain a comeback so many times, she can’t fault anyone for questioning her dedication to her next move: a play at London’s West End. In a new interview, the troubled star said that she will not miss any shows and vowed to stay out of trouble.
Last month, producers for a new production of David Mamet’s Speed-The-Pillow officially announced that Lohan, 28, would be making her stage debut in the play. Considering her reputation, that has left many skeptical.
While chatting with The BBC, Lohan said that she will show up to all performances and won’t let alcohol or partying stop her.
“That's not going to happen. That's not on the cards. It's not,” she said. “I'm at a place in my life where I like the commitment. I'm looking forward to that part of it.”
Lohan sounded genuinely interested in rebuilding her career as an actress, putting behind the tabloid spectacle she’s become. It doesn’t matter how long it takes for her to do it.
“I want to be known for my talents and my work that I create, rather than a tabloid sensation,” Lohan said. “However long it does take, I'm willing to do it. I'm willing to work for it.”
Lohan’s 10-week stint on the West End starts on Sept. 24 at the Playhouse Theatre.
