Lucy Lawless is joining the cast of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for the second season, while Colbie Smulders will return.
According to TVGuide, who exclusively reported the news, the Spartacus star will join the second season of the ABC series.
Unfortunately, what role she will be playing and if it's for more than just a guest spot have yet to be revealed.
In addition to the Xena alum boarding the second season, E! News reports that Smulders will reprise her role as Agent Maria Hill at some point in the second season.
"We have plans to bring her in and see her," Jed Whedon, creator and executive producer, confirmed, while co-creator and showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen chimed in with, "We love Cobie, we love the character, she's so great."
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which stars Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, Ming-Na Wen and Elizabeth Henstridge, is set for a Sept. 23 return on ABC
