Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was sidelined over the weekend after he failed a conditioning test.
ESPN noted that Dareus remained on the active/non-football injury list as of Sunday evening and coach Doug Marrone sounded optimistic that the tackle would be ready soon.
"He'll be in shape and ready to play," Marrone said. "Right now he needs to focus on getting himself ready, getting himself on the field and focus on football.”
The 24-year-old was arrested twice this offseason; once for his part in an accident caused by allegedly drag racing and another time when he was busted with marijuana in his car.
The NFL has not yet announced if he will be disciplined by the league.
The Bills’ gave the lineman some time off during organized team activities last month to work on his personal issues.
The Alabama native is coming off his best season last year when he recorded 7.5 sacks and 46 tackles. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2013.
