Despite being a free agent, point guard Mario Chalmers has decided he is staying with the Miami Heat. After not playing well in the 2014 NBA finals, his future with the Heat was in question.

Chalmers will sign a two-year deal in the $8 million range confirmed by Twitter.

The man they call Rio has been in Miami his entire NBA career. He has gone to four straight NBA finals a long with the highly publicized big three.

The Miami Herlad has reported team president Pat Riley is excited for Chalmers to be returning to the Miami Heat organization.

Riley stated, “We’re happy that he wants to continue his career in Miami, he’s one of our core players, and I believe he will have a great season.”

In the 2012 NBA finals against the OKC Thunder, Chalmers scored 25 points in a game. In 2013, he once scored 34 points in a regular season game against the Sacramento Kings, and he had an astounding 10 three-pointers in the same game.

He is more than capable of doing well for the Heat in the future. With LeBron James gone, Chalmers has an opportunity to showcase his talents and prove his worth.
