Marvel Entertainment may have just had the best news-making week in comic book history. We got a female Thor, then a new Captain America and then five release dates for future films. Iron Man even got a new suit of armor.

The five new release dates show that Marvel is finally taking that rivalry with DC Comics that has lasted over half a century to the box office. Two of these newly scheduled films will be coming out in 2017, a year that Warner Bros. is also hoping to release two movies during.

DC’s 2017 movies are set for July and Christmas that year. Marvel is hoping to put out one of its movies on July 28, 2017 and then in the winter on Nov. 3, 2017. So the fact that Captain America 3 is coming out on May 6, 2016 - the same day as Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - is just the start of this.

The other three movies that Marvel has scheduled will be out on July 6 and Nov. 2, 2018 and May 3, 2019. So start saving because who knows how much an IMAX ticket will cost by then.

These movies are still a secret, but we know that a Doctor Strange film is on the way. One of them will almost definitely be a third Avengers film.

Marvel’s week started with a new Thor, since the male Thor is unworthy of using the hammer. Then, it was revealed that Sam Wilson/The Falcon is becoming Captain America. Oh, and because Tony Stark can’t be kept out of the action, Mashable showed off Iron Man’s new armor. Of course, these are changes that only happen in the comics, so Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans still have jobs.

All that this week taught us is that Marvel could care less about overexposure. When you have Disney at the wheel, take at advantage of it. Plus, the San Diego Comic-Con is next weekend, so this is just the start of the big announcements.
