Rapper Meek Mill has had his parole revoked and been sentenced to three to six months in prison after a violation of the terms of his probation.

The probation stemmed from a 2009 gun and drug conviction against the rapper. According to Philly.com's The Inquirer, Meek Mill’s re-arrest caused the cancellation of several concert dates including one at Temple University that was supposed to happen on Saturday. ABC News reports that Mill had booked concerts from July 11 to August 11 but was told by a judge that the concerts weren’t going to happen.

Mill's parole violations included posing in a photograph with what appeared to be a semiautomatic pistol and making disparaging comments on Twitter about his probation officer, Treas Underwood and Assistant District Attorney Noel DeSantis.

The judge, Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley, was reported by The Inquirer to have made several efforts to coordinate Mill’s work schedule with the terms of his probation.

"After all these years of me trying to help him move his career forward . . . I believe this defendant is basically thumbing his nose at me," Brinkley said according to The Inquirer.

Meek Mill, whose real name is Robert Williams, has reportedly spent the last two years in court disputing the terms of his probation. According to The Inquirer, Mill says that his music career provides financial support for himself, his mother, his son and several friends and pleaded with Judge Brinkley not to stop him from working saying, “It took me 15 years to get here, and this will be extremely damaging to my life.”

Mill will have to spend up to six months in prison and he will be required to start a new five year probation period upon his release according to The Inquirer.
