A judge sentenced rapper Meek Mill on Friday to three to six months in prison for a violation of his probation.
Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley sentenced him over his repeated violations of his probation, which was the result of a 2009 gun and drug conviction, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The sentence is nothing close to the five to 10 year sentence that Assistant District Attorney Noel DeSantis sought for Mill, who consistently violated probation by scheduling shows without getting them cleared. The rapper didn't help his situation after scheduling concerts between July 11 and Aug. 11 against orders.
"He's asking me to send him to jail and that's what I'm doing," DeSantis said at the hearing, while Brinkley seemed quite disappointed in the 27-year-old rapper.
"After all these years of me trying to help him move his career forward," the judge said, "I believe this defendant is basically thumbing his nose at me."
When Mill is released from prison, his five-year probation will begin anew, though hopefully he'll have learned to follow the rules better.
According to TMZ, sources claim that Mill's entourage believe that DeSantis fought for a prison sentence because she has it out for him.
Mill has an album, Dreams Worth More Than Money dropping> Sept. 9.
